Project Development and Mission:
The Quinerly Home for female Veterans is a missions program run by First Baptist Church Norfolk. Mrs. Vanetta Morgan Quinerly, a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk, Inc. (a 501-c-3 Non-Profit Organization) upon her death, transferred her house and property to the church via her estate with the provision that the house and additional lot would be used to provide for community needs. The renovated house will provide four bedrooms, kitchen, bath, and large family activity room for four female veterans. Consistent with the church's mission to serve the military females who have risked their lives in services for this country, this project will not only provide housing, but will also mental health services, employment and career planning, as well as family and parental training. |
The Quinerly Home for Female Veterans provides supportive services for the residents in eight areas of continuum of care:
• Housing Stability • Family Strength • Financial Management and Legal Assistance • Employment • Behavioral Health and Wellness • Education and Volunteerism |
The Home Depot Foundation has provided initial funding to support the renovation of the house. Skilled community veterans and church members provide labor "in-kind".

Many of the families are presently homeless and will need clothing and school supplies. Money will also assist with many of the renovation plans for a yard garden, computer and outside furniture and decorations. This project is already a model for meeting the needs of our very deserving veterans.
