The Historic First Baptist Church
PRAYER VIGIL 2018
What is the Prayer Vigil?
The Prayer Vigil is an important opportunity for the church and community to come together for prayer. It is a commitment to around-the-clock prayer to seek God’s will and direction. The vigil begins at First Baptist church at 2 p.m. on Good Friday, the day we commemorate God’s greatest sacrifice for us. The focus is on developing a renewed relationship with God, both individually and in our ministries.
How Can You Participate? EVERY MEMBER of First Baptist is asked to join his/her ministry family in prayer for the indwelling and magnification of the Holy Spirit. Your ministry leader may ask you to pray from the “Prayer Focus” for that time period or you can pray whatever prayer God puts in your heart. However, you don’t have to be a part of a ministry; you don’t even have to be a member of First Baptist Church! Please come for as many hours as you like.
“The Fruit of the Spirit”
Song: “Sweet Hour of Prayer”
Scripture: Galatians 5:22-25 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”
